Dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need since 2015
Mutts in Need is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that rescues and re-homes dogs of all sizes and breeds to homes in Orange County and the surrounding areas. Our top priority is finding safe, loving, permanent homes for our dogs, for life.
All of our rescues are micro-chipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and dewormed prior to adoption.
Many of our dogs are housed in foster homes throughout Orange County. ALL of our rescue staff are VOLUNTEERS--so we always appreciate donations and extra hands! See our "Be A Part" page for more info.
Susanna McDonald is our Co- Founder & International rescue coordinator and can be reached at AdoptK9s@gmail.com.
Mutts in Need provides care, comfort and compassion to dogs in need to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals. We are a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to reducing overpopulation, abuse and neglect of domestic animals.
Mutts in Need is run entirely by compassionate like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives and then care for these dogs.

Everything you need to know about adopting from us
Our adoption fees range from $200-$400 depending on the dog's age and medical needs. This fee covers spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm testing, deworming, and any additional medical care the dog has received while in our care.
The typical adoption process takes 1-2 weeks from application submission to taking your dog home. This includes time for application review, home visit (if required), meet and greet, and final approval. We want to ensure every match is perfect for both the dog and the family.
We consider out-of-state adoptions on a case-by-case basis. Adopters must be willing to travel to meet the dog in person and complete the adoption process. We may require additional references and a virtual home tour for out-of-state applications.
Yes! We welcome applications from renters. You'll need to provide written proof from your landlord that dogs are allowed, along with any breed or size restrictions. We want to make sure your new companion is welcome in your home.
We offer lifetime return policy for all our dogs. If for any reason the adoption doesn't work out, we ask that you return the dog to us rather than rehoming them yourself. We provide post-adoption support and are always here to help with any challenges that arise.
While we occasionally have puppies, the majority of our dogs are adults. Adult dogs make wonderful companions and often come housetrained with basic manners. We encourage you to consider an adult dog—they have so much love to give!
We'd love to hear from you
